BBC Select is a subscription streaming service in the US and Canada that features hundreds of critically-acclaimed documentaries.  A global first for the BBC, it launched in 2021 on Amazon Prime and Apple TV+, and I was its Creative Director. 
The team, Harry Ead, and I created the brand itself, the launch campaign and the daily assets needed to support the social media channels. The branding went on to win a graphite pencil at the D&AD awards.

As part of BBC Select, The Drop featured incredible global talent, everyone from Chuck D to Ai Wei Wei, from Roxane Gay to Lionel Shriver, giving their opinion, their 'take', on a subject particularly important to them.

BBC EARTH TRIBE

Another global first for the BBC. A BBC Studios and Tencent Video partnership, BBC Earth Tribe is a bespoke streaming site in China, an exclusive community for avid natural history lovers. 

The longform content streamed alongside exclusive Chinese shortform content, created and branded by my team (I was the Head of Creative in Asia for BBC Studios), on a website we also created for Tencent. The following reel is an English language version.
 

                                                            BEING HUMAN Season

For this landmark global BBC Earth season of programmes we shot with a robot. That is one off the bucket list...

She is Sophie and has been seen many times since, but in my capacity as the BBC Asia Creative Head, I worked with the British-based agency BBDO and the BBC Earth team and filmed with her in Hong Kong to create a full 360 suite of assets. She was always on time and never complained... a true pro.

BBC PLAYER 

A selection of assets created by Chris Baclig and I when we rolled out the streaming service BBC Player in Malaysia, following the successful launch in Singapore, when I headed up the Creative team in Asia.

HOFF THE RECORD

Examples from a Promax award winning 360 campaign, which contained badges, a mini-fun run in Oslo (!), and bespoke photography. The Oslo-based agency Duval Guillaume and my team (I was the BBC Western Europe creative head) shot with the Hoff himself in London (with additional plates in Norway) to promote a key launch title for BBC BRIT in the Nordics.

 

EMI RECORD E.P.K

This was made by myself and Zinnia Chown for the Sheffield act Kid Acne for EMI records. The two of us shot and edited this after filming with the artists in Sheffield and London.

                                                           WARNER BROS. CHANNEL LAUNCH

I was part of the team who created and launched the first ever Warner Bros. movie channel in India and Pakistan. As part of the launch, I edited this action-focused spot.

                                                COME DINE WITH ME SOUTH AFRICA S2

The main promo for a 360 campaign Meriem Adib, the team and I created for the second season of this tentpole series for BBC Lifestyle Africa. As part of my role as the BBC EMEA Lead Creative, we shot in Cape Town with local talent and created a full sponsorship campaign, including radio ads and giant roadside billboards. I also supervised the edit in South Africa with the local creative agency.

                                        BBC DIRECTOR-GENERAL SOUTH KOREA VISIT

After creating a successful video for Lord Tony Hall's visit to the Beijing office, my Asia BBC Creative team were asked to do the job again when the then-DG visited the news and Studios offices in Seoul.

                                                        BBC EARTH ASMR CAMPAIGN

Knowing that a large proportion of our audience in South East Asia watched content on their mobiles (particularly in Malaysia), my BBC Asia Creative team embraced ASMR... headphones on please!

                                                       THE BRIT CROWN JEWELS

The BRIT Crown Jewels was the crowning glory (pun!) of the BBC BRIT channel across the Nordics, a night of the biggest titles. Below are two examples of how the team and I (including Gemma Baukham for the first approach and Simon Wain for the second) got everyone's attention. At the time I was the Creative Manager for Western Europe for BBC Studios.

                                                              BBC FIRST BENELUX LAUNCH

As the header suggests, my team and I were responsible for launching the BBC FIRST channel in the Benelux region, including the styleguide and all localisation. This is the launch promo I created with Lee Hagan when I was the Western Europe Creative Head at BBC Studios.

                                             MOSLEY MOMENTS

The renowned doctor Michael Mosley dropped in on us when touring Asia and gave us some suprising health facts for BBC Earth. A team shot this in India and I, as the Asia Head of Creative, supervised the production, and the post in Singapore.

                                                              BBC STUDIOS and YOUKU

A landmark partnership was struck with BBC Studios and YOUKU in China to showcase the best of BBC premium drama. This is an English language example of how Dave Tan and I promoted this when I was heading up Asia Creative at the BBC.

                                                                       BBC STUDIOS and MyVideo 

 Another landmark partnership to showcase BBC premium drama, this time with MyVideo in South Korea, again during my time as the Head of Creative in Asia for BBC Studios.

THE TRUTH ABOUT FOOD SEASON 

A BBC Earth season devoted to surprising home truths about what we eat. This is how Jackie Beaumont and I approached the issue, when I was the Western Europe Creative Manager at BBC Studios.
